ARIADNE
- a young princess when her brother, Asterios, was born
- witness to the rift this caused within her family, her brother was rejected by her mother so Ariadne became Asterios' chief caretaker, the only one other than victims to venture into the labyrinth
- the people eating became a thing when someone snuck in and was killed by asterios who did not know his own strength and was poorly socialized, and starving
- from then on ariadne tried to do better in her job but at that point her father made it her role to send youths and maidens into the labyrinth
- between sacrifices, she tried to help socialize asterios and teach him a bit of the outside world...teaching him words and so on... while also practicing her own magecraft
- magecraft needed to navigate the labyrinth and protect herself because asterios was volatile and poorly socialized. was herself quite isolated due to the burden of watching over the labyrinth, her studies, her decision to teach asterios of the world
- eventually, jason came and, sensing her chance to be free of the burden and the family she resented (including sight of her 2nd younger brother being much doted on) she decided to aid him of her own volition.
- blah blah escaping. desperate and afraid, she thought little of killing her own brother in order to secure her one lifeline out of her home.
- drugged and abandoned; jason was afraid of her power and ruthlessness and also not particularly enamored of her anyway. also. athena said a thing???
The real story???
- because of taking care of Asterios and being shunned for this duty, never really developed magecraft beyond rudimentary things
- "marriage to Dionysus" was actually found by Dionysus(?) and properly trained; her goddess powers are Ariadne at full mage power and training?
PERSONALITY
- deeply resentful of her family, especially her parents for forcing the burden of caring for asterios on her
- vented rage at her youngest brother for sure
- ambivalent about asterios. was not the best sister, carefully avoided his attempts to reach out even though she tried to educate him and teach him a bit of the outside world at the same time. resentful of him as a burden and was very relieved when he died, though also guilty. his fear hurts her even though she knows it's richly deserved. now that they are free of crete her only wish is for him to have the happiness and freedom he was denied, and to that end she avoids him as much as possible as she is a reminder of bad times
- a powerful sorceress in her own right, from an age when divine spirits walked the earth. could be a divine spirit herself, even.
- ...somewhat mellow in the sense of not being an active Rage Bucket when she grew older but still not. happy.
NOBLE PHANTASMS
- string, a magic cord that helps people find their way
- corona borealis was her wedding diadem (to her marriage w/ dionysus, 9 stars)
- the sword she gave theseus???
- an older woman
- regen/buff named after naxos (since that's when she supposedly was found by dionysus and wed, uplifted to goddess status)
- aloft behind her bridled tigers
ETC
Mistress of the Labyrinth; Goddess of Vegetation, Mazes, Paths, Fertility, Wine, Labyrinths, Snakes, and Passion
sacrifice: every 9 years, 7 youths and maidens, theseus slew at the 3rd offering
grandchild of Helios
cousin of Medea
died and brought back by Dionysus rather than becoming an immortal goddess as his wife?
two ariadnes; the goddess and later the abandoned wife
Archer (fires threads/stars); a scout, one who can divine the "true path"
Caster; in her goddess form when she is most powerful
Avenger; Ariadne Lily, when she was young and angry and wished hatred upon her family
